Start your task
Use Codex, Claude Code, or Cowork on your Mac. Agent Awake detects supported local activity automatically.
A LITTLE UTILITY FOR LONG TASKS
Your agents can finish the job with the lid closed. When the work is done, your Mac can sleep again.
Native on Apple silicon and Intel.
On until they’re done.
Automatic protection. A coffee cup away.

LET THE LAST TASK FINISH
Opening an agent app shouldn’t keep your Mac up all night. Agent Awake watches for supported tasks that are actually running.
Use Codex, Claude Code, or Cowork on your Mac. Agent Awake detects supported local activity automatically.
Active protection keeps the Mac running on battery or a charger. Keep it on a hard, well-ventilated surface.
After the last task finishes, protection releases. With the lid closed, Agent Awake requests sleep.
THOUGHTFUL BY DEFAULT
Protection releases at 5% battery while unplugged, or when macOS reports a critical thermal state.
Expired activity signals release the hold. Recovery checks restart an unresponsive activity monitor.
Pause protection from the coffee cup. If it’s hidden, open Agent Awake from Applications or Spotlight.
UP AND RUNNING
One installer chooses the right version for your Mac. No developer tools or separate Python installation needed.
Open Agent-Awake-1.3.1-Mac.dmg, then open Agent Awake Installer.
Click Install. macOS asks for administrator approval to enable closed-lid protection.
The menu-bar icon shows your status. A filled cup means closed-lid protection is active.
A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS
Idle apps alone don’t trigger protection. When no supported tasks are running, Agent Awake releases its hold. Some Codex approval waits can still appear as active tasks until the turn finishes or is cancelled.
Local Codex tasks, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork. Ordinary Claude chat, browser-only activity, and remote-only jobs aren’t detected. App updates can change how task activity is recorded.
Agent Awake controls sleep. It doesn’t restart failed tasks or guarantee an uninterrupted internet connection. Work that is still retrying may continue after your connection returns, depending on the agent app.
Keep it out of bags and enclosed spaces while protection is active. Your Mac is still running and needs ventilation. Thermal safeguards are a backup, not a replacement for airflow.
It prevents sleep while supported work runs. It can’t prevent power loss, forced shutdowns, or restarts. Heat and low-battery safeguards can allow sleep before a task finishes.
Closed-lid work followed by sleep was physically tested on an Apple silicon Mac on battery. Idle sleep was also tested on battery and a charger. The current release passed activity, installer, native-code, and pause/resume checks. Intel hardware and a clean second-Mac installation haven’t been tested.
Open Agent Awake Installer again and choose Uninstall. It removes the app and helper and restores the previous sleep override. Local diagnostic files are retained. Installation supports one macOS account per Mac.
